With the recent news of Big Bang‘s G-Dragon caught in a legal issue for smoking marijuana, fans can’t help but be worried about Big Bang’s future as they are arguably one of the most successful boy bands in Korea at the moment. Without a doubt, this is the boys’ most difficult moment in their careers, as now another member of the group is forced to postpone his activities.

Back in May of this year, member Daesung was involved in a car accident which took the life of a man and ultimately had the idol temporarily leaving the music industry. Now we have G-Dragon who has been arrested for smoking marijuana. These boys have come a long away starting from their debut years, but 2011 seems to be their worst year.

Many of their future schedules have gone down the drain. First off, GD&TOP were in plans to release a new single in Japan between November and December, however with the recent incident, it’s unlikely to happen. Furthermore, G-Dragon was in the process of making a comeback with a new solo, mid October. All of his comeback plans have been dismissed.

This isn’t the first time the group has had to pause major activities. Prior to Daesung’s car accident, the group was in preparation for new music and concert releases. Unfortunately, those plans were trashed when news of the idol’s accident hit media outlets.

It is apparent that Daesung took a huge loss with the unfortunate event. Even after 5 months, there are no signs of the idol returning to the industry. Industry Analysts have predicted that G-Dragon might have to take a long break just like his group mate. Considering how strict the Korean government is in regards to marijuana usage, this prediction is very reasonable.

According to reports, the idol took the drug back in May and after further investigation, a hair drug test came out to be positive in July. The idol even confessed himself that he smoked marijuana while attending a club in Japan.

On the bright side, because this was G-Dragon’s first offense, the prosecutor will not be giving him a serious charge, which means he will not be officially indicted. Despite this, the idol has taken a huge loss all because of the usage of marijuana.

The boys’ agency, YG Entertainment is also struggling as Big Bang is their biggest source of income. According to their annual reports, 27.98% of their total revenue for the first half of the year was from Big Bang’s concerts alone. If you include their album sales and endorsements, it goes beyond 50% of the total revenue mark.

With the band’s temporary cease of activities, it’s no doubt that the company will have a sharp drop in revenue in the latter half of the year. Analysts have shared that if G-Dragon gets his name blacklisted from broadcasting companies, it may be the very end of Big Bang.

Big Bang‘s G-Dragon made a surprise visit to encourage a 4 year old patient who happens to share the same name (Kwon Ji Yong), earning himself the “Wings of Hope” badge.

Little Kwon Ji Yong has a rare form of hypoglycemia, which means he has very low levels of blood glucose.

His family stated that he needed to take medicine everyday, but the insurance didn’t cover the costs, so they had to pay roughly $2,000 every month. Since the family didn’t make enough money to afford this expensive medicine, they were extremely worried. Luckily, Big Bang fans (VIP GD supporters) have donated the needed money to help with their financial needs.

Since 2009, gd-supporters.com have donated money every month to help not only little Ji Yong, but also a little girl with Chronic kidney disease, and also a male patient suffering from the genetic bone disorder, Osteogenesis Imperfecta.

On September 5th, G-Dragon took the time out of busy scheduled to visit little Ji Yong. There was some good news as little Ji Yong reduced his medicine dosage by 1/3rd. G-Dragon also brought toys and became close to Ji Yong while helping to assemble the toys.

G-Dragon himself personally donated $47,000 to help these children suffering with these rare diseases.

It’s heart warming to hear stories like this and G-Dragon has set a good example for others to follow.

Since 2009, VIP members (gd-supporters.com) have expressed their love for G-dragon by donating every month out of never ending sincerity. They have helped not only Jiyong but a little girl that suffers from Chronic Renal Failure and a male patient suffering from Osteogenesis Imperfecta. On September 5th, 2 people with the same name met each other: 4yrs old Kwon Jiyong and 24yrs old Kwon Jiyong. A healthy looking Jiyong that had reduced his medicine dosage by 1/3, greeted his hyung with the exact same name as him. Even though they were a bit shy because they were unfamiliar with each other but after playing with the toys that G-dragon had personally prepared, they automatically became closer. After hearing that Jiyong needs to regulate his blood glucose levels every 4 hrs, the pain he suffers from taking in food and that he still needs a lot of medical treatment, G-dragon looked distressed. He stayed with Jiyong and his family for a long time to give them endless support and encouragement.

Actress Lee In Hye recently told a story of Big Bang‘s G-Dragon hugging her when he was a kid.

On the September 8th broadcast of QTV‘s ‘Ranking Women‘, Lee In Hye explained this story in the section of ‘The Best Consolation in My Life’.

She revealed, “It happened in my third year of high school. At the time, we appeared together in a children’s program and the children were a great comfort.“ She continued, “G-Dragon was in the center of the children. When I said, ‘Come here’, he ran over and hugged me.”

G-Dragon has inked his body multiple times in the past, and it looks like the Big Bang leader recently got another tattoo!

Fan reports began spreading across the internet after G-Dragon was seen publicly at the 2NE1 concert held a few weeks back. At a children’s hospital charity event last week, attentive VIPs noted the tattoo yet again.

The tattoo itself has ignited interest among many, as it features a curious cartoon-like heart with arms and legs running on a path. Turns out that this is a famous icon by Keith Haring that is still commonly seen today.

An artist and social activist whose work responded to the New York City street culture of the 1980s, Keith made his mark on the 80′s by painting throughout the New York subway system in chalk. It wasn’t until later that his art made its way above ground to become mainstream. His works consisted of public art and pieces of pop art. Daesung to be inactive for rest of the year

In light of recent events, Big Bang’s Daesung was absent during YG Entertainment’s recent Japanese advancement ceremony.

On July 21st, YG Entertainment and avex came together at Odaiba’s Hotel Nikko to commemorate their new brand, ‘YGEX‘. Among the YG artists, those who attended included Se7en, Gummy, Big Bang (sans Daesung), and 2NE1. At the launching ceremony, the YG artists had the opportunity to spend time with the Japanese press and officials.

At the event, CEO Yang Hyun Suk stated,

“Daesung could not attend today. This year, he will be careful and will also show patience. He is very disappointed in himself and feels very apologetic to the other members. Therefore, Big Bang will not be promoting anything this year. All the members will wait until [Daesung] returns. Either way, the situation has disappointed and upset fans. Thus, Daesung will dream of a new hope while reflecting [during the rest of this year].

Instead, the other members who have solo or unit activities will continue those as planned. Starting in September, the members’ personal activities will unfold simultaneously. Although there won’t be a unified Big Bang, the individual characteristics of the members in their solo activities will soothe the disappointment of the fans.”

On July 21st, Big Bang’s leader G-Dragon extended his support to fellow member Daesung in an interview after the press conference for YG Entertainment and avex’s collaboration label, YGEX.

G-Dragon said, “I wanted to come here with Daesung but couldn’t, which is disappointing. Even if we don’t express it outright, the members are together as one team with Daesung in our hearts. We are always supporting and worrying over him.”

He added, “We’re working harder than ever to make sure that we can return as five members as fast as possible.”

Taeyang posted, “Today I’m starting my session with the Underdogs :) it’s gonna be awesome!”. A member of the Underdogs replied to the post, “Creating today for the artist @Realtaeyang. Wish us luck”, and Taeyang retweeted the post.

The Underdogs are arguably the top R&B producers in the music scene. Whether on reputation or success, they’ve worked with superstars such as Beyonce, Chris Brown, Babyface, 2Pac, Omarion,and many others.

G-Dragon is Planning His Second Solo Album For 2012

When G-Dragon released his first solo album, "Heartbreaker," VIP's everywhere were delighted and I personally was completely blown away by his amazing song "Heartbreaker." He then joined TOP for the album GD&TOP (another amazing album,) but was that first album the only time we would see G-Dragon completely solo?

The answer, thankfully, is no! It turns out that G-Dragon is planning for another album, with a 2012 release!

Q: 2 years ago, with your solo album “Heartbreaker” as your representative, you said that : “You’re not a idol, but a symbol.” Now looking at Big Bang, it looks like you’re trying to break the “Idol Image”.

G-Dragon: The views people had for us within this 2 years and 3 months (Big Bang’s hiatus period) had changed. During this period, I think that “Idols” is now a term used for younger idols. We’re all getting older, it is kind of embarrassing still being called “Idols”, maybe it’s time to be called “Musicians” instead.

Q. Your first album “Heartbreaker” created alot of controversies, what do you have to say about that?

G-Dragon: One day, when I was driving, I played it all again one more time, I felt guilty. (laughs) I was really confident at that point, albums to me are like my diary, when I’m 60/70 years old, I can always look back and hear it, read the lyrics and think back about who did I love, what was I thinking about at that point. After that, I find that my diary used as an idea for my solo album, is too impulsive (laughs). If I wasn’t that impulsive at that point, I could have done better. I’m now currently preparing for my next solo album, if the production is fast, it’ll be released by next year.

So there you have it: G-Dragon is planning a second album and from what he says, he plans to completely eclipse Heartbreaker. If you compare that album to the GD&TOP album, I can see it being done. I don't know about Big Bang being called musicians, (I always use that term for those who play instruments, but I am probably wrong), and it's adorable that he says they're getting older, when they're still so young. I am older than some of the members!

Expect a less impulsive, well planned-out second solo album from G-Dragon in 2012! Is anyone else as excited as me? (Hopefully when he gets back on his feet we will see the Daesung solo album I know you all want as much as me!)

Big Bang will be continuing their promotions with double title tracks, “Love Song” and “Stupid Liar,” from their 'upcoming special album'!

The YG-Life blog previously teased about the release with an image that read “I HATE THIS LOVE SONG!”, and officials have confirmed that the line is actually a part of the lyrics for “Love Song”!

YG Entertainment revealed, “‘Love Song’ has a bit of a different feel from the songs Big Bang has previously released, so we’re expecting fans to feel something new. ‘Stupid Liar’ was a track that the boys debated over with ‘Tonight‘ as the title track for their 4th mini-album. The song itself features a guitar riff with a rock genre that’s both speedy and powerful. It really brings out their vocals and raps.”

They continued, “As it is the first time the boys are making a special edition album, we’re going all out with the jacket design and the album’s overall packaging. It is disappointing that they will only be promoting for a three week period, but we’ll be working hard to make sure that they greet their fans more frequently.”

Their Korean promotions will thus only last until May 1st due to Big Bang’s Japanese tour, which is scheduled for May through June. Meanwhile, broadcast appearances for Big Bang will be restricted for about two weeks in order to allow the boys to film their music video and rehearse their choreographies.

Due to a lack of time, they will only be filming the music video for “Love Song,” which will be released on April 15th. In addition, Daesung’s solo track, “Baby Don’t Cry,” which was previously shown at the February “Big Show” concert, will also be included in the album. Their first broadcast will be on April 10th through SBS’s “Inkigayo” where they will perform their double title tracks.

G-Dragon saves a mother and her son at Big Show Concert!

story of a mother who was watching the BIGSHOW ::

I am someone who went to Big Show.

I went to the first concert(Day 1) with my family and we were on the 3rd floor.

During the concert, my child suddenly said he/she(gender was not specified) had to go to the restroom, so we went out and were on our way back when the stairway leading back up(to the 3rd floor) was crowded. And with no other choice, I carried my child and just waited at the bottom of the staircase for it to clear up.

Just then, I realized that Big Bang was on the third floor, running around the pathways for their performance.

I think it might have been G-Dragon who came back down(to the 2nd floor)and passed by us, but it was so out of control I couldn’t really remember if it was him or another member. Anyway, after whichever member had passed by me and my child, all the fans that were crowded on the staircase came rushing down(to follow the member). My child and I fell, but more like my body got turned and fell forward.

After losing control of everything for a while after that, all I could do was look for my child and get together again. I was just glad that my child was all right after the mob had broken us up and stomped all over us; I even had to look for my child’s shoe that got lost. I gave my child, who seemed a bit shocked, a hug before sending him back to our seats… I couldn’t go back with him/her because my legs were feeling too shaky after the whole incident, but I went and joined my family after a while.

I think I was too worried about what happened to my child and went into a tiny shock.

I had lost all control of myself at that moment that I didn’t even realize what had truly happened until today when my friend had said to me, “A lot of people were talking about you online for the past few days. I wasn’t sure if it was really you, but after asking them what happened, I knew it was about you.”

It turns out that there were a few other fans who were at the concert to witness what had happened to me and my child and wrote about it on their own blogs. I found the actual blog and I’m copying & pasting the exact account here:

“Yeah, GD helped the kid up.. even GD was jammed/caught by the fans, too.. GD couldn’t even get himself up, but he tried really hard just to help the little kid get back up.. The bodyguards ran up to GD to help him up, but instead of trying to get their help, he signalled them with his hands, telling them to save the little boy. But when the bodyguards ignored it and kept trying to help only him up, GD just kept holding onto the kid, not letting him go. Then, when the trashcan next to the child was about to fall on top of the kid, GD blocked it with his own hand and held the kid tight. I still remember the expression on GD’s face….. it was so peculiar… every time I think about his face at that moment, it touches me so much and it makes a part of my heart sting…. After GD had finally gotten up and left, the child’s mom finally found her kid and hugged him so tightly… the mom was probably really scared.. But anyways, GD… you are, indeed, a man of perfection… I witnessed this whole thing with my friend and even she said GD’s face was like the face of an angel… of course, GD always looks like an angel in my eyes, but my friend isn’t even a fan of Big Bang who would ever say anything nice about them and she only went to the concert because I begged her, keke… if only anyone had recorded that moment, everyone can see how angellic he was.. kind of sad it wasn’t recorded..”

Even though he was buried under all those fans.. even though he couldn’t help himself up, he managed to help my child.. without getting his bodyguards’ help, he saved my child instead.. and even blocked the trashcan from falling on top of him/her.

And there I was, the whole time, not having a clue about what really happened. All I cared about was getting up and finding my child. After seeing what truly happened, as a mother, I’m so thankful that I couldn’t just let this pass. It seems like G-Dragon was fine and was able to leave without getting hurt, so I’m very thankful for that as well. I just can’t hide how thankful I am for G-Dragon.

Big Bang’s comeback handling, distresses MBC & KBS!

After being absent from 2 years and 3 months, the comeback of Big Bang has put the attention on KBS’s “Music Bank” and MBC’s “Music Core”.Big Bang is ready to launch their full-fledged activities after they release their 4th mini album this upcoming 24th.

Big Bang’s agency, YG Entertainment, has recently hesitated from having their singers appear on KBS and MBC TV. Especially with the activities of girl group 2NE1 as well as the solo and unit activities of Big Bang, their appearances were hard to find on KBS and MBC.

The public suspects that because ‘YG has been so close to SBS‘, that they have alienated KBS and MBC music shows. In fact, even though 2NE1 swept various music charts last year, did not attend KBS’s end of the year awards.

YG’s side spoke up to the rumors, “What a pity. With MBC and KBS there’s no bad feelings, it’s all unfounded rumors. Given the opportunity, it’d be nice to appear.”

However, Big Bang’s comeback will also be released first through SBS. The fact that SBS will release a 1-hour special for Big Bang on the 27th has strained MBC and KBS.

Big Bang’s comeback is stacking up many avid fans, and it has been pointed out as the biggest issue in the music industry this year. Big Bang’s “BIG SHOW” Concert being held at the Olympic Gymnastics Stadium from February 25th to the 27th, has created a ticket chaos and fans have high expectations.

Thus, SBS’s broadcast of Big Bang’s comeback, has guaranteed them high ratings. From stage equipment to sound facilities, etc. SBS has promised that their investment in this has been exceptional.

Music show SBS “Inkigayo” put a lot of effort for 2NE1 and Big Bang’s solo activities, it seems this time they’re continuing that with Big Bang.

As for MBC and KBS’s music shows, they missed Big Bang’s comeback while SBS got the head start. For a long time Big Bang’s group activities in Korea were interrupted in order to advance into the Japanese music industry.

The pool's result was released on today. It was conducted from 31st, January to 12th, February, and there are totally 546 votes casted in this 'the stars that I want to give chocolates to on Valentine's Day' and Jejung of JYJ captured the 1st spot with 39.6% of the votes followed by G-Dragon whose votes accounted for 34 % of the total.

The spokesman of sevendu.net said, 'The stage of JYJ's Jejung is amazing. He has good singing and performance skills coupled with his white skin and black eyes. The boy is just like a beautiful girl. Big Bang’s Seungri, andGD & TOP returned from the United States on the 13th and have decided to appear on SBS’s Inkigayo.

The new album’s music video shooting was taking place in the U.S and they originally planned to stay until early next week but returned ahead of schedule in order to finish their broadcasting activities. According to this week’s Inkigayo GD & TOP and Seungriwill once again compete for the number 1 mutizen.

The youngest of the group, Seungri, won last week with his song “What About Me?”. While holding the trophy Seungri revealed, “In 2011 we are modestly committed to become victorious” and “Big Bang will come out soon!“.

Seungri’s “What About Me?” stayed at #1 for 3 consecutive weeks on M-Countdown but because he was busy in the U.S he wasn’t able to perform on stage.

Meanwhile the fan’s anticipation is growing fast as Big Bang’s comeback is nearing with the final stage of their members today on SBS’s Inkigayo.

I found another article that only talks about this being Seungri’s last stage, not GD&TOP’s so I’m not sure if their ending their promotions today as well but I hope not because they promised to promote “Baby Good Night” and haven’t done so yet. The MV for “Don’t Go Home” hasn’t been released either. Sad to see maknae go so soon though! 0:

The flavors of the BIGBANG Special Edition ice cream are: Strawberry Rose Chocolate for G-Dragon, Chocolate Banana for SOL, Strawberry Azuki Beans for T.O.P, Melon Milk Cake for D-Lite and Raspberry White Chocolate for V.I.

Each ice cream includes different layers of ice cream for fans to enjoy.

Will BigBang Attend MAMA Awards?

Big Bang’s decision of whether they’re going to be attending MAMA, which will be held in Macau on the 28th, has gained attention from many people.

In this year’s MAMA, 2NE1, Gummy and other YG artists are attending this event, but because Big Bang took a 2 year break, it has not yet been decided whether they will be boarding the plane to Macau.

First, it does seem like some of the members of Big Bang are eligible to attend. G-Dragon is one of the nominees for Award of the Year. T.O.P. and Taeyang have been active due to their solo albums.

The only thing is that because Big Bang as a group haven’t been active, not all of the members will be able to stand on stage.

Mnet and YG Entertainment have not revealed on what they’re planning to do yet. MAMA staff is currently busy trying to fit all the artists, who are attending, in their schedule and are deciding whether or not to put Big Bang in their schedule.

On November of 2008, Big Bang came out with their 2nd album containing the song, Red Sunset and afterwards have taken a long break. With the news of their comeback, the fans are starting to get excited.

It seems that as the 2010 MAMA (MNET Asian Music Awards) annual event nears, more artists have been dropping out from attending due to the sever schedule clash with other music programs.

Groups under the label of SM Entertainment will not be joining due to their boycott, but many other labels have still decided on attending. However, decisions were made and things have changed. Which groups will not be attending?

Swings' Version of 'After You Fall Asleep'

On 13th November, Swings held the 'Just Music, Just Pizza Show' at Rolling Hall. He performed 4 or 5 acoustic songs and one of these was Taeyang's 'After You Fall Asleep'.

As you might already know, the song 'After You Fall Asleep' is on Taeyang's most recent album, 'SOLAR'. The original version is featuring Swings who provides the rap-part on the track.

Swings' cover sounds really soft and gentle at the beginning, but when he sings the part he also used to sing on the original track, his voice gets really powerful and gives his performance a special twist.

Although Big Bang was originally suppose to release their comeback album at the end of November, YG Entertainemnt has decided they will be kicking off 2011 with a bang instead

An official revealed “Big Bang is currently finishing thier new album. The album will be available for fans as early as December this year or in January at it’s latest.”

The group has gained wide anticipation since their last mini "Stand Up" was released 2 years ago and since then nearly all 5 members have successfully entered the market as solo artists.

Fans will be disappointed to know they will have to wait even longer but Big Bang is sure to not disappoint once their new album gets released!

Mnet’s Super Star K 2′s member and YG Entertainment’s singers have gathered together to film a CF.

According to a member of Super Star K 2, it was reported on the 16th that starting from the 15th, the members would film a commercial together with Big Bang, 2NE1, and Psy.

One of the members expressed that being able to work with Big Bang and 2NE1 was an honor. One member had celebrated his birthday on the 15th and joined with the rest of the members for the shoot and was able to finish the shoot.

In this commercial shoot, CJ Company decided on the concept of bright and passionate youths and decided to include the Super Star K 2 members as well.

On October 22nd, Super Star K 2 came to an amazing close with singers who were as talented as popular artists and gained the interest of many, having them shoot various commercials.

Some of the singers signed a contract with Samsung to be the model for their smart phone, others became the model for clothes lines and many more.

The Japanese public was asked who they thought were the most popular Korean idols in Japan. Many groups like Super Junior, Girls' Generation, Kara, Big Bang, FT Island etc. were named. But who are on the top of the ranking? The idols who took over the 3rd spot of the 'most popular Korean idols in Japan-ranking' were Big Bang.

The first two ranks were both girl groups which showed that Japan was quite 'girl group-biased'. On number 2 was Kara who got lots of attention thanks to their song "Mister" with 3193 votes.

And Girls' Generation took over the 1st spot with 3393 votes.

Also Supernova, FT Island, SS501, Super Junior, 4minute and SHINee were included in this ranking.
